Leading with Emotional Intelligence Workshop
Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been proven to be a key predictor of leadership success. It defines how we manage ourselves and how we relate to others. Because emotions exist at the core of who we are as human beings, they impact all aspects of our lives - how we make decisions, build relationships, manage stress and navigate change - all essential leadership skills.
The good news is that Emotional Intelligence can continue to grow and develop over time through personal motivation, commitment, practice and reinforcement.
Leading with Emotional Intelligence will explore how emotions contribute to leadership success through personal reflection, group interaction and practical application.
At the end of this program, leaders will be able to ...
- Describe emotional intelligence and explain why it is relevant.
- Connect emotional intelligence to their work.
- Identify their personal strengths and growth opportunities.
- Create and apply their EI Learning plan.
- Connect with peers for accountability, support and sustained learning.
There are 3 key components to this program: Assessment, Awareness and Application.
Assessment: Prior to the workshop, leaders will complete the EQ-i2.0, (the first scientific instrument to assess social and emotional intelligence). Additionally leaders will participate in a 1-hour, confidential phone debrief session (with a certified EQ-i Practitioner) to review their personal leadership assessment results and identify potential development opportunities.
Awareness: During the workshop, leaders will learn more about EI fundamentals. Through personal reflection, small group discussion and large group debrief, leaders will establish personal relevance (e.g. how their emotional intelligence impacts their personal leadership effectiveness.) Using this information, leaders will create an individual EI Learning plan. Their plan will target specific EI competencies that link directly to their work.
Application: Because learning, developing and strengthening emotional intelligence requires motivation and commitment, leaders will participate in a simple peer coaching process that provides practice and reinforcement.
